OUR STORY
New Wharf Campsite is an independent, family run campsite on the river Adur. Our family has grown up on the farm and we have many fond memories of hot summer days, when we would camp in fields, jump into the river to cool off, pick sweet, juicy blackberries from the hedgerows and cook sausages and sweetcorn over the fire. We would love to provide you with your own experiences and hopefully create some great memories for you and your family.
THE CAMPSITE
The campsite has gorgeous views of the Sussex countryside, including the South Downs National park, which is only a 5-minute drive away! There is a beautiful array of wildlife around the campsite, including bunny rabbits, kestrels, buzzards, kites, geese, owls, bats, herons and a vocal Cuckoo bird.

We have many facilities, including a mixture of natural composting or blue flushing toilets, hot showers and mains drinking water taps that are dotted all over the grounds, so you never have to venture too far to find one. As building a fire on the ground is not permissible, we are happy to rent out fire pits for the weekend, so you can sit around the fire chatting and cooking your own BBQ. Wood for the fire pits, including a free fire starting kit, can be bought direct from the reception.

If you have any queries or needs during your stay, feel free to contact our warden who will be on site.
SHEPHERD HUTS
Why not try one of our charming shepherd huts. For a more comfortable camping experience, these shepherd huts are kitted out with full sized double beds, lighting, USB charging outlets, an outside under shelter gas cooker, and outside seating. For more information Click Here.
EMPTY BELLS
This year we have a small fleet of empty bell tents that come with inside lighting and a light weight hessian carpet. They are 5m empty bells, with zipped in ground sheets and will happily fit 4 people and at a squeeze up to 6 people. For more information Click Here.
BBQs & FIRE PITS
Fire pits and BBQs are permitted but must be elevated off the ground so as not to burn the grass. We offer fire pits for hire and sell both wood and charcoal onsite. All wood and charcoal comes with a fire starting kit, which includes kindling, paper and a fire lighter. Prices can be found under the extras section, when you make your booking. Please do not empty firepits onto grass/into hedges, we are seeing increasing numbers of people emptying 'cold' ash out of their fire pits and starting wild fires on site.
DRINKING WATER
Drinking water/taps and cleaning stations are located all around the campsite. You won't ever have to go too far.
KAYAK & CANOE RENTALS
Campers have private access to the River Adur, which is only a short walk away from the main site, where you can hire kayaks, canoes and paddle boards with The Kayak Coach. For more information or to make a booking please book separately. Click here:- The Kayak Coach Ltd.
A little further down the river, we have built three sets of steps into the river for easy access. These are for the use of campers who wish to use their own boats or boards. Please note it is a tidal river and you do enter the water at your own risk.
ECO TOILETS
We have plenty of classic feather boarded toilets. There is a mix of compost and blue flushing. The toilets are checked and cleaned twice a day and we provide sanitiser and disinfectant spray for you to use.
HOT SHOWERS
We have some lovely heated showers dotted around the campsite. Just like the toilets, these are hand built on the farm using traditional feather board cladding.
